How does it work?

HDGUARD simply diverts all changes made to a protected hard drive or partition into an area of the disk invisible to the user. If for example a user changes an important file, for this user it will appear as if the change has taken place. In reality it has only taken place in the hidden area and the original file remains unchanged on the protected drive. This "diversion" is completely transparent to the user. If they were to look at the file (eg. with Explorer) it would appear with all the changes made. HDGUARD presents the file as if it was stored on the respective partition, and the user can work with this file as if it were changed.

When a system reboot takes place, all diversions to the hidden area are dismissed and the system is returned to its original state.
